Just a note to say that we are heading back to Nepalgunj on Monday, after being in Katmandu for a month. Anuraj has been in Biratnagar since Wednesday and will return to Katmandu Sunday evening. He was there to vote and also to monitor the elections (for his job with UNMIN – United Nations Mission in Nepal). The elections themselves went well. Things leading up to the elections were a little rocky, with occasional bomb blasts, some killings and beatings and kidnappings of candidates and party members. The most shocking thing of all is that the Maoists are currently leading with about 80% of the votes. It will be interesting to see the final tally and see what begins to transpire.
